In a recently published paper, Ron Ellis and colleagues found that cannabis may have a beneficial impact on HIV-associated blood brain barrier injury.
Findings suggest cannabis exposure is linked to a lower odds of neurocognitive impairment in the context of HIV. A possible mechanism of this result is the anti-inflammatory effect of cannabis, which may be particularly important for people living with HIV.

A liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry method was developed for quantifying ten cannabinoids in oral fluid (OF). This method was able to identify and calculate the concentration of 6 of 10 cannabinoids validated in this method.

Marijuana is hard to police. A small amount may significantly impair a novice user but not a chronic user. So, traditional tools used on drunken drivers — like breathalyzers — don’t work.
