- What is a Clinical Trial?
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) defines "A clinical trial [as] a research study to answer specific questions about vaccines, new therapies or new ways of using known treatments. Clinical trials (also called medical research and research studies) are used to determine whether new drugs or treatments are both safe and effective. Carefully conducted clinical trials are the fastest and safest way to find treatments that work in people. "

Inclusion Criteria - A list of requirements that must be met by all study subjects in order to be accepted into a clinical trial.
Exclusion Criteria - Characteristics that would prevent a subject from participating in a clinical trial, as outlined in the study protocol.
- Where can I get more information on Clinical Trials?

This website gives you information about a clinical trial's purpose, who may participate, locations of clinical trials, and phone numbers to call for more details.

Participating in CMCR Clinical Trials: ^back to top
- How can I get involved in your studies?
Complete the Participant Interest form on the CMCR web site (www.cmcr.ucsd.edu) and that will allow your information to become available to the study coordinators. You will only be contacted if you meet the study inclusion criteria.
- After I enter my information, when can I expect to hear from someone?
If you are eligible to participate in any CMCR study, you can expect to hear from someone as soon as possible, generally within 2 weeks. Once you have filled out a participant interest form, the information is stored in a confidential database. If a current study does not contact you, your information will be kept in the database for upcoming studies to access.
- How do I check the status of possible enrollment?
Once you have completed the Participant Interest form, you will only be contacted if your profile matches the study criteria. If you are not contacted by anyone from the enrolling studies, you are not currently eligible to participate in trials. If you are having problems with the online form, are not sure if your form was submitted, or would like to have your information removed from our database, please contact our office via e-mail at:
cmcr@ucsd.edu
